Foster Care Intermediate Course is for rookie foster parents by a foster parent who has had over 15 children come in and leave her care.
This self-paced online course contains five videos and over ten slides of valuable information about the following:
- How to prepare for your first placement
- Trauma-informed parenting & resources
- What foster care is
- Tips & tricks for kids of all ages and gender
- Guidelines for building healthy relationships with your child and his/her biological parents
- Establishing healthy boundaries
- Supporting the goal of reunification
- Advocating for your child
- A dictionary of foster care jargon
This course is extremely valuable for anyone who is newly licensed and expecting their first placement soon.
It can be done alone or with a partner.
On average, it takes an individual one week to complete the course entirely.
